Have you gone to your local social services agency yet? They would know of programs that could help you with your bills. And also too I'm a little bit confused here because your post says you are looking for money to pay your bills but you also say that you're looking for money to rent an apartment. So does that mean that you have to move from where you are paying bills now?

in response to LizB...   Some of them require you to show up in person and others will let you apply simply by calling them and sending them the requested documentation to provide proof of your financial need.  In the case of a shut-off notice you would have to provide a copy of your shut-off notice to them.  In some cases they will even let you fax a copy to them because it is quicker and your shut-off notice could be in a few days or even less - so the faster they get a copy of your shutoff notice the faster they can evaluate your case and decide whether or not to grant you the money - which in most cases goes directly to your utility company.

Its hard to ask for money. So here goes. I have been plegued with physical problems and am in need of $4200.00 to pay off a bill.  I have filed for SSD as I can no longer work. I am pressing so many pennies together digging up coupons and what ever I can do yet this one bill eludes my pockets. I need help I am willing to pay it back at 50.00 per month but they want 131.00 per month. can anyone out there help me. thanks Mickey  mickeytheemouse@yahoo.com

Thanks for asking me about the foundation - the one that provides the $9,000 in emergency financial assistance.  I found that information for a client of mine.

Suffice it to say that this is not a government grant but a grant that is being provided by an charitable organization outside of the government.

However this organization does not have a website - they do have a regular mailing address and a phone number that you can use to contact them.

The information about this organization is online - its just that the organization itself does not have a website!

in response to shrnpolk...   First of all I would need to know the status of your living arrangements. Do you currently have a place to live? Are you living with someone else? That's why I always try to recommend that people start with their local social services agency because those are the places that would know the best about grant programs that can help you. Have you done that yet?

Honestly speaking do you really need a car to look for a job? Is there any public transportation where you are?

There are some things here that you have to get clear about.  First are you looking for grants or loans?  They are not the same thing.

If you are looking for a loan program to help with your rent then you should contact your nearest social services agency because they would know both of grant and loan programs that could possible help you.  You also haven't said how much financial help that you need.  There are some organizations out there that provide emergency financial assitance to those that are having a financial emergency.  Please bear in mind that you have to apply for this money and be chosen for the grant depending upon your grant application.

If you look at some of the past posts here on Aidpage then you will see that there have been a lot of posts about resources to help people - especially single mothers.

I also don't know if you have had the chance to look but Aidpage itself is looking for peole to help earn money.  If you take a good look at the aidpage site you will see ads and with the aidpage program you could earn some money from this program as well.  Aidpage does not ask for much in return - all you have to do is to keep posting - maybe this would be a good idea for you to try to help you earn some extra money.

Also it is not advised for you to put your personal information online for everyone to see becuae not everyone is "nice" - so to speak!
